Winnipeg / James Armstrong Richardson International Airport guide

Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (YWG) is the main airport serving Winnipeg, Manitoba, at 2000 Wellington Avenue. It began in 1928 as Stevenson Aerodrome and was renamed Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport in December 2006, honouring the aviation pioneer who founded Western Canada Airways in 1926. The Winnipeg Airports Authority operates the airport, and Transport Canada owns it.

The main terminal, designed by Cesar Pelli with Stantec, opened in 2011 and was the first airport terminal in Canada to earn LEED certification. The airport has two asphalt runways, and U.S. border preclearance is available for departing travellers. Air Canada and WestJet are the main carriers, and Porter Airlines, Flair Airlines, Delta Connection and United Express also fly here. Calm Air, Perimeter Aviation and Cargojet use the airport as a hub. The airport handled about 4.3 million passengers in 2024 and about 4.4 million in 2025.

Perimeter Aviation runs its own terminal building about 2.6 kilometres south of the main terminal, serving remote northern communities. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the main terminal, and the airport has Air Canada Maple Leaf and Plaza Premium lounges.
