Kasama Airport guide

Kasama Airport serves Kasama, the capital of Zambia's Northern Province. It lies about 6 kilometres from the town centre at an elevation of 1,384 metres above sea level, and Zambia Airports Corporation Limited manages it.

The airport is small. Its main runway, 13/31, is about 2,800 metres long and has long been unpaved. A grass strip, 18/36, measures 875 metres. Work to replace the main strip with a bituminous runway has been under way, and an upgrade of the runway and terminal preceded the return of scheduled flights in 2024.

Proflight Zambia is the only scheduled airline. It flies the 29-seat Jetstream 41 turboprop between Kasama and Lusaka, a service it resumed on 19 March 2024. A single terminal building holds check-in counters, basic security screening, a waiting lounge, and offices for airport management, customs and immigration. Amenities are limited, with no restaurants, large shops or currency exchange on site.
