Seattle–Tacoma International Airport Guide
Last updated 2026-04-21 UTC
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, known as Sea-Tac, sits in the city of SeaTac, Washington, 23 km south of downtown Seattle and 36 km north of downtown Tacoma. Opened for commercial operations in 1947, it serves as the primary hub for Alaska Airlines, whose headquarters are located nearby, and is a major international gateway for Delta Air Lines.
The airport recorded 52.6 million passengers in 2024, a new annual record and a return to growth following the pandemic. It handles around 434,000 aircraft movements per year. Three parallel runways support continuous high-frequency operations across domestic and international routes.
Sea-Tac connects to downtown Seattle via Link Light Rail in under 40 minutes, making it one of the more transit-accessible major US airports. The South Satellite serves the bulk of long-haul international traffic, including flights to Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. A second terminal with 19 additional gates has been approved and is planned for completion by 2032.
