Pierre Regional Airport guide

Updated 2026-10-18

Pierre Regional Airport sits about three miles east of Pierre, the South Dakota state capital, in Hughes County. The City of Pierre owns it. The field grew out of a World War II airfield built on roughly 1,700 acres of pasture bought by the federal government in 1942, and the city took it over for public aviation after the war.
