Syracuse Hancock International Airport sits 8 km northeast of downtown Syracuse in Onondaga County, New York. The airport opened in 1949 on the site of a former World War II bomber base and received international status in 1970. A 2018 terminal renovation added larger windows, higher ceilings, and a flight museum display in the main hall.

The airport passed 3 million passengers in 2024 — its busiest year in 75 years of operation — despite Southwest Airlines withdrawing service mid-year. Eight airlines serve 29 nonstop destinations, with American, Delta, and United providing connections to major hubs. The airport is operated by the Syracuse Regional Airport Authority, a New York public benefit corporation established in 2011.

Syracuse receives more annual snowfall than any other major US city, averaging 315 cm per year. The airport has won the Balchen/Post Award for snow and ice control eight times, and averages fewer than 24 hours of closure per year due to winter weather.
