Westchester County Airport Guide
Westchester County Airport sits in the towns of North Castle and Harrison and the village of Rye Brook, about 5.6 km northeast of downtown White Plains and 53 km north of Midtown Manhattan. It began as an Air National Guard base in 1942, and American Airlines started the first scheduled passenger flights in late 1949.
The airport handled about 2.3 million passengers in 2024 and 158,764 aircraft operations in 2023. JetBlue carries roughly half of all passengers. Breeze, Delta, American, Cape Air and JSX also fly from the airport, mainly to East Coast, Florida and Midwest cities. Westchester County owns the airport and AvPORTS operates it. Two asphalt runways serve it: 16/34 at 6,549 feet and 11/29 at 4,451 feet.
The passenger terminal is small, with three levels and six gates. The ramp holds four aircraft at a time, so only four gates are in use at once. Gates 1 to 4 have jet bridges, and a 2015 expansion added about 20 percent more space. A separate private-aviation terminal opened in 2019, and the county has hired a consultant for a further terminal modernization.
