Eppley Airfield Guide
Eppley Airfield sits 4 miles northeast of downtown Omaha, Nebraska, on the western bank of the Missouri River. It is Nebraska's busiest airport, handling more passengers than all other airports in the state combined. The airport served a record 5.27 million passengers in 2024 and operates around 70 daily departures to 35 nonstop destinations across the United States.
The airport has been undergoing a $950 million Terminal Modernization Program since 2025. During construction, operations are divided between a North Terminal and a South Terminal with a temporary walkway between them. A new Central Pavilion with a unified security checkpoint is expected to open in 2027.
Eppley Airfield is named for Eugene C. Eppley, a hotel entrepreneur whose estate contributed $1 million to prepare the airport for jet service in 1960. The Omaha Airport Authority has operated the facility since 1959. Three runways serve the airport, with the longest at 9,502 feet.
