Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport sits in Romulus, Michigan, about 29 km southwest of downtown Detroit. It is Michigan's busiest airport and a major hub for Delta Air Lines, which operates the bulk of its flights through the large McNamara Terminal. The airport serves more than 140 nonstop destinations across three continents, with roughly 1,100 daily flights.

The airport opened for commercial operations on September 4, 1930, and is governed by the Wayne County Airport Authority. It has six runways and handled approximately 33 million passengers in 2024. The McNamara Terminal's Concourse A is one of the longest airport concourses in the world at about 1.6 km, served by an automated tram.

In addition to the Detroit metro area, DTW draws passengers from Ann Arbor to the west, Windsor and Southwestern Ontario across the Canadian border, and the Toledo, Ohio region to the south. The airport is a SkyTeam hub, giving it strong international connectivity to Europe, Latin America, and Asia through Delta and its alliance partners.
