Chippewa County International Airport serves the eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan from the community of Kincheloe, about two miles off Interstate 75. The field sits on the site of the former Kincheloe Air Force Base, which closed in 1977. The airport was turned over to the Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation in 1984, and that body still manages it.

The military past shows in the airfield. Runway 16/34 is 7,203 feet of concrete, though part of it is no longer maintained for takeoffs and landings. Runway 10/28 is 5,001 feet of asphalt. A new passenger terminal opened in September 2002 and was upgraded between 2020 and 2022. A separate general aviation terminal of about 10,000 square feet was completed in 2022 and includes a port of entry where customs clears aircraft on request.

Scheduled airline service is small. SkyWest flies as Delta Connection to Detroit and Minneapolis/St. Paul, and United Express has served Chicago O'Hare seasonally. The airport handled about 60,000 passengers in the 12 months ending February 2026. It also draws charter, corporate and freight traffic, and an industrial park with 24 buildings shares the site.
