Cape Cod Gateway Airport sits about one mile north of the centre of Hyannis, on the south side of Cape Cod. It is the main commercial airport on the Cape and the mainland gateway to the islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. The airport opened in 1928 and was a Naval Auxiliary Air Facility during World War II. It was known as Barnstable Municipal Airport, or Boardman/Polando Field, until it took its current name on January 1, 2021.

Service is seasonal and aimed at the summer visitor trade. Cape Air flies short hops to Boston, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. JetBlue and American Airlines add summer flights to New York, Washington, Chicago and Philadelphia. American began flying to Hyannis in June 2024. Traffic fell from about 290,000 passengers in 2007 to under 30,000 in 2023, then recovered to about 46,500 in 2024.

The administrative office is on the second floor of the main terminal at 480 Barnstable Road.
