Logan International Airport sits in East Boston, 5 km from downtown Boston across the Inner Harbor. Its location on a small peninsula in Boston Harbor makes it the second-smallest footprint among the 20 busiest U.S. airports, covering 965 hectares. The airport first opened in 1923 and was renamed after General Edward Lawrence Logan in 1943.

In 2024, Logan handled a record 43.5 million passengers across four terminals and 107 gates, with 413,409 aircraft movements. JetBlue is the airport's largest carrier with roughly 27% market share, operating from Terminal C. Delta Air Lines maintains a secondary transatlantic hub at Terminal A, and Terminal E handles all international arrivals requiring U.S. Customs screening.

Six runways give the airport strong operational capacity despite its constrained site. Logan is the busiest airport in New England and the busiest in the northeastern United States outside the New York metropolitan area. Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) has operated the facility since 1959.
