Quad City International Airport Guide
Quad Cities International Airport sits about three miles south of Moline, Illinois, in Rock Island County. It serves the Quad Cities metro area, which spans Moline, Rock Island, Davenport and Bettendorf on both sides of the Mississippi River. Rock Island County owns the field, and the Metropolitan Airport Authority of Rock Island County operates it.
The site began as Franing Field, chosen in 1919 as a control point for the first coast-to-coast army flight. Airmail service through Moline started in 1926, and Boeing Air Transport added Chicago to San Francisco flights through the field in 1927.
Four airline brands fly from the airport today: Allegiant, American Eagle, Delta Connection and United Express. The airport has three runways. Runway 9/27 is 10,002 feet long, 13/31 is 7,301 feet and 5/23 is 3,514 feet. A U.S. Customs facility in a former air cargo building, opened in 2014, handles international general aviation arrivals.
