MidAmerica St. Louis Airport sits in St. Clair County, Illinois, on the east side of the St. Louis metropolitan area. The airport address is in Mascoutah, and the field is about 33 km from downtown St. Louis. It shares its airfield with Scott Air Force Base under a joint-use agreement signed in 1991. The FAA certified the civil airport in October 1997, and it opened for operation in May 1998.

The airport has two runways. Runway 14L/32R is 3,048 m long and runway 14R/32L is 2,440 m long, both with instrument landing systems. The long runway handles large aircraft, and the airfield is set up for military and cargo traffic as well as passenger service.

Scheduled passenger service is limited. Allegiant Air has flown here since 2005, apart from a pause between 2009 and 2012, and is the only scheduled airline. Its nonstop routes serve leisure destinations, mainly in Florida, plus Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, Savannah and Gulf Shores, Alabama. The airport reported a record 384,000 passengers in 2025. Earlier carriers, including Pan American Airways, Great Plains Airlines and TransMeridian Airlines, ceased operations.
