Middle Georgia Regional Airport sits in Bibb County, about 9 nautical miles south of downtown Macon and between Macon and Warner Robins. It covers roughly 1,149 acres at 354 feet above sea level. The site began as Cochran Field, an Army Air Corps training base where British Royal Air Force cadets also learned to fly. After the war it became Macon's municipal airport.

Two asphalt runways serve the field: a 6,500-foot runway 5/23 and a 5,000-foot crosswind runway. The passenger terminal was built in 1959 and renovated in 2003. Most traffic is general aviation. The FAA counted 19,725 aircraft operations in the year ending April 30, 2023, and 84 aircraft are based on the field.

Scheduled airline service comes from Contour Airlines, which has flown 30-seat ERJ-135 jets from Macon since 2017. It moved its Washington-area flight from Baltimore to Washington Dulles in May 2025. Commercial service has come and gone over the decades, and the airport went nearly three years without it after 2014. Embraer announced a repair and maintenance facility for its ERJ and E-Jet aircraft here in 2019.
