Augusta Regional At Bush Field Guide
Augusta Regional Airport at Bush Field sits about six miles south of downtown Augusta, in Richmond County, Georgia. It serves the Augusta-Richmond County metropolitan area and the Aiken and North Augusta communities across the South Carolina line. The City of Augusta owns and operates it.
The field began in 1941 as an Army Air Corps flight training facility and took its name from civilian instructor Don C. Bush. Commercial service started on July 1, 1950. In 2000 the name changed from Bush Field to Augusta Regional Airport, and the Bush Field name stayed in the official title. The current passenger terminal opened in December 2007.
Delta Air Lines and American Eagle provide the scheduled service, with Atlanta as the main connecting hub. The airport handled about 587,000 passengers and 41,700 aircraft operations in 2023. Two asphalt runways serve the field: Runway 17/35 at 8,001 feet and Runway 8/26 at 6,002 feet, on about 1,411 acres at 144 feet above sea level. Traffic climbs sharply during the Masters Tournament each April.
