Columbus Airport sits about four miles northeast of downtown Columbus, in Muscogee County, Georgia. It serves Georgia's second largest city, the Fort Benning area and nearby Phenix City, Alabama. The Columbus Airport Commission owns and operates the field, which covers 680 acres at 397 feet above sea level.

Eastern Airlines began scheduled service on August 1, 1944, when the field was Muscogee County Airport. It later became Columbus Metropolitan Airport and took its current name on January 21, 2010. The present terminal opened on June 2, 1991, and a $13.5 million renovation finished in 2021. The terminal has three secured gates, and two of them have jet bridges.

Delta Connection flies to Atlanta, the only scheduled passenger route, and Delta has added seasonal mainline Boeing 717 flights on some weekends. FedEx Feeder runs a daily cargo flight to Memphis. The airport recorded 84,387 enplanements in 2022. General aviation makes up about 86 percent of the 37,662 aircraft operations in the year ending November 2022, and 132 aircraft are based at the field. Two intersecting runways serve it: Runway 6/24 at 6,997 feet and Runway 13/31 at 3,997 feet. Runway 6/24 was rebuilt in 2024 and 2025 and reopened on November 28, 2025.
