Brunswick Golden Isles Airport sits in Glynn County on the Georgia coast, about 5 miles north of Brunswick's central business district. The site began as Naval Air Station Glynco, a blimp base built in 1943. The airfield opened as a civilian airport on April 30, 1975, after the federal government deeded the property to Glynn County. It was called Glynco Jetport until 2003.
The Glynn County Airport Commission, created in 1980, runs the airport along with St. Simons Island Airport. A single runway, 7/25, measures 8,001 by 150 feet and carries an instrument landing system on the Runway 7 end. A $10 million passenger terminal was dedicated in June 2005.
Scheduled passenger service goes to Atlanta on Delta Connection regional jets. Most of the traffic is general aviation: of roughly 20,900 aircraft operations in the 12 months to June 2022, about 87 percent were general aviation and 5 percent scheduled commercial. Gulfstream Aerospace also operates at the field.
