Vero Beach Regional Airport guide

Vero Beach Regional Airport sits about one mile northwest of the city of Vero Beach in Indian River County, on Florida's Treasure Coast. The City of Vero Beach owns it. Three asphalt runways serve it: 12R/30L at 7,314 feet, 04/22 at 4,974 feet and 12L/30R at 3,504 feet.

The airport dates to 1929, with a dedication in 1930. The U.S. Navy bought about 1,500 acres around it and commissioned Naval Air Station Vero Beach in 1942, training naval aviators there until the base closed in the mid-1940s. The Brooklyn Dodgers began spring training on the former base in 1948, which led to the Dodgertown complex next door. Piper Aircraft chose the site for research and development in 1957 and moved operations there in 1961.

General aviation carries much of the traffic. The FAA counted 265,405 aircraft operations in the year ending January 2024, with 212 based aircraft. Scheduled airline service comes from American Eagle to Charlotte, Breeze Airways to a range of Northeast and Mid-Atlantic cities, and JetBlue to Boston. A $1.9 million terminal expansion is adding passenger walkways and a covered baggage claim area.
