Southwest Florida International Airport Guide
Southwest Florida International Airport sits in unincorporated Lee County, about 24 km southeast of downtown Fort Myers. It is the primary gateway for the Cape Coral-Fort Myers metro area and also serves Naples and the surrounding Gulf Coast region. The airport is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection port of entry, handling both domestic and international arrivals.
RSW operates from a single midfield terminal with three active concourses — B, C, and D — offering 29 gates. It ranks as the second-busiest single-runway airport in the United States. In 2025 it handled over 11 million passengers, a record for the airport. Sixteen air carriers serve 78 destinations, with nonstop flights covering most major U.S. cities and select Canadian and international routes.
A $1.1 billion terminal expansion program began in October 2021 and is scheduled for completion in 2027. The primary component is a new Concourse E with 14 additional gates, which broke ground in early 2025 and will add a dedicated TSA checkpoint, baggage claim, and a business lounge.
