Southwest Florida International Airport Guide
Southwest Florida International Airport sits in unincorporated Lee County, about 24 km southeast of downtown Fort Myers. It is the primary gateway for the Cape Coral-Fort Myers metropolitan area and also serves Naples-Marco Island and Punta Gorda. The airport is owned and operated by the Lee County Port Authority and opened to commercial service in May 1983. It is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection port of entry, with an international arrivals facility on the lower level of Concourse B, so it handles both domestic and international flights.
RSW operates from a single terminal building with three active concourses, B, C and D, and a single runway, 06/24, which is 12,000 feet long. In 2025 the airport handled 11,154,458 passengers, a record for the airport, and 99,958 aircraft operations. Carriers include Delta, Southwest, American, United, JetBlue, Frontier and Breeze, with nonstop service to major US cities and select Canadian and international destinations.
A multiphase terminal expansion program valued at $1.1 billion is under way. Its main component is Concourse E on the west side of the terminal, which will add 14 gates and is scheduled for completion at the end of 2027.
