Orlando International Airport Guide
Orlando International Airport sits 10 km southeast of downtown Orlando and serves the greater Central Florida region, including Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and the Space Coast. Its IATA code MCO derives from McCoy Air Force Base, the military installation that occupied the site until 1975.
The airport is operated by the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. The North Terminal complex houses Terminals A and B, each connected to two remote airside concourses via automated people movers. Terminal C opened in September 2022 as a dedicated facility for international and long-haul services, featuring dedicated customs and immigration processing. Together the three terminals offer over 140 gates.
With 57.7 million passengers handled in 2025, MCO is Florida's busiest airport and consistently ranks among the top ten in the United States. Southwest Airlines carries the largest share of passengers, followed by Delta and American. Four parallel runways support more than 380,000 aircraft movements per year.
