Jacksonville International Airport sits 21 km north of downtown Jacksonville in Duval County, Florida, and serves as the primary commercial gateway for northeast Florida. Opened in 1968 as a replacement for Imeson Field, it is owned and operated by the Jacksonville Aviation Authority on a 7,911-acre site at 30 feet above sea level.

The airport recorded more than 7.6 million passengers in 2024, its highest annual total on record. American Airlines leads by market share, followed by Delta, Southwest, United, and JetBlue. The single terminal building connects to two active concourses — A and C — with 20 gates total. A third concourse, B, broke ground in May 2024 and is targeted for completion in late 2026, adding six initial gates primarily for American Airlines.

JAX operates two concrete runways in a V configuration, handling commercial, general aviation, and military traffic. The 125th Fighter Wing shares the airfield and is transitioning from F-15 Eagles to F-35A Lightning II aircraft. Public bus service via Jacksonville Transportation Authority Route 1 connects the airport to downtown Jacksonville and the Skyway monorail.
