Destin Executive Airport Guide

Destin Executive Airport is a general aviation field about one nautical mile east of Destin's central business district, on Florida's Emerald Coast. It is owned and operated by Okaloosa County and forms part of the Okaloosa County Airports System alongside Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS).

The field began in the late 1950s as Kelly Coleman Field, set up by Coleman Kelly. The Kelly family passed the property to Okaloosa County in January 1964, when it was called Destin/Fort Walton Beach Airport. It took its present name after the commercial service airport at VPS adopted the Destin-Fort Walton Beach name. The original terminal building and flight service station date from 1963, a second terminal opened in 2007, and a control tower followed in 2017.

A single asphalt runway, 14/32, measures about 5,000 feet. One fixed-base operator sells 100LL avgas and jet fuel and offers maintenance, hangar space, catering, a crew lounge and courtesy cars. Because the field sits close to Eglin Air Force Base, flights follow special air traffic rules. Aircraft operations were about 64,000 in 2018, and 61 aircraft were based here in 2022. The airport carries corporate and private traffic rather than regular airline service.
