Dover Civil Air Terminal/Dover Air Force Base Guide
Dover Air Force Base in Delaware is a military airfield with a joint-use civil side, the Dover Civil Air Terminal. It has no scheduled airline service. The civil terminal handles corporate jets, charter flights and larger air carrier aircraft that the Delaware Airpark (33N) cannot take.
The Delaware River and Bay Authority operates the Civil Air Terminal under a joint-use agreement with the base. It holds FAA Part 139 certification and has its own gated entrance on the north side of the base, at 2199 Horsepond Road. Civil aircraft need prior permission from the base to land. The terminal also handles charter traffic during NASCAR race weekends at nearby Dover International Speedway.
The airfield has two runways: 14/32 at 12,903 feet, the longest in Delaware, and 01/19 at 9,602 feet. The Air Force owns the field, and Air Mobility Command runs it as the home of the 436th and 512th Airlift Wings. Military passengers use a separate Air Mobility Command terminal on the base. Its codes are DOV (IATA) and KDOV (ICAO).
