Tweed New Haven Airport sits about 5 km southeast of downtown New Haven, on the shore of Long Island Sound. The field straddles the New Haven and East Haven town line. It is one of two Connecticut airports with scheduled airline service, alongside Bradley International in Windsor Locks.

The airport opened on 29 August 1931 as New Haven Municipal Airport. It was renamed in 1961 for Jack Tweed, its first airport manager. The City of New Haven owns the property, the Tweed New Haven Airport Authority oversees it, and Avports runs day-to-day operations under contract.

Passenger numbers grew from about 95,000 in 2019 to roughly 1.5 million in 2025, driven by Avelo Airlines, which operates a base here, and Breeze Airways. Most routes go to Florida and other points in the southeastern United States. A single asphalt runway, 5,600 feet long, handles all traffic; a crosswind runway was decommissioned in 2015. A runway extension and a new east-side terminal are planned. Until then, flights use the original 1931 terminal building and an adjoining modular ticketing building.
