Montrose Regional Airport sits on the northwest side of Montrose, Colorado, about 5 km from the city centre. It is the main commercial gateway for the Western Slope's San Juan Mountains, and the road to Telluride Ski Resort takes roughly an hour and a half.

Two asphalt runways serve the field. Runway 17/35 is 10,000 feet (3,048 m) long, and runway 13/31 is 7,510 feet (2,289 m). The long main runway handles mainline jets as well as regional aircraft and business flights. The airport recorded 23,414 aircraft operations in the year ending December 2022, an average of 64 a day.

Scheduled service comes from American, Delta, Southwest and United, with seasonal routes from Breeze. Flights run year-round to Denver and expand in winter to hubs and cities such as Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark and San Francisco. An expansion roughly doubled the terminal and added a second-level concourse with gates, a bar, a fireplace and powered workstations. It also added more than 570 paved parking spaces. Atlantic Aviation runs general aviation services.
