Eagle County Regional Airport Guide
Eagle County Regional Airport sits in the Eagle River Valley of Colorado, at 217 Eldon Wilson Road in Gypsum. It is the closest commercial airport to the Vail and Beaver Creek ski resorts. Eagle County owns the airport, which has its own fire department, a contract-staffed control tower and a 632-acre site. Marketing materials also call it Vail/Eagle Airport.
A single asphalt runway, 07/25, measures 9,000 feet. The airport handled 58,040 aircraft operations in 2024, a mix of airline, charter and private flights. Its 289,867 enplaned passengers that year were a record, helped by new service from Alaska Airlines.
Traffic peaks in the winter ski season, with a smaller summer peak. Airline service links the valley to hubs in Denver, Dallas/Fort Worth and other cities. A new terminal building opened in phases from July 2019, adding four gates with jet bridges beside the original seven-gate concourse. Mountain weather can delay winter flights, so allow extra time when connecting onward.
