Mammoth Yosemite Airport Guide
Mammoth Yosemite Airport sits about seven miles east of Mammoth Lakes, in Mono County, beside U.S. Highway 395. It is also known as Mammoth Lakes Airport and Mammoth-June Lake Airport. The field covers 230 acres at an elevation of 7,135 feet, one of the higher commercial airports in California.
The Town of Mammoth Lakes owns and runs the airport. It bought the field from Mono County in September 1992. A single asphalt runway, 9/27, measures 7,000 by 100 feet. Most traffic is general aviation, with 6,280 operations and seven based aircraft recorded in 2015.
Scheduled passenger service is mostly seasonal and tied to the ski season. United Express began flights in December 2010 and passenger boardings reached 19,814 that year. Weather problems hurt reliability, and United moved its service to Eastern Sierra Regional Airport in Bishop in December 2021. Advanced Air now flies seasonal Dornier 328JET service to Hawthorne near Los Angeles and to Carlsbad near San Diego. It carried 6,410 passengers between May 2025 and April 2026. A terminal development master plan calls for a new terminal building, an airline apron and a deicing apron.
