Eastern Sierra Regional Airport sits about two miles east of Bishop, in Inyo County, on the east side of the Sierra Nevada. The airfield opened in April 1940 as Bishop Army Airfield. The land is owned by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and leased to Inyo County, which runs the airport.

Three asphalt runways serve the field: 8/26 at 5,567 feet, 12/30 at 7,498 feet and 17/35 at 5,600 feet. Most of the roughly 12,500 annual aircraft operations recorded for the year ending August 2022 were general aviation. Commercial flights made up about 8 percent, and 39 aircraft were based here.

United Express, flown by SkyWest with a 70-seat CRJ-700, has served the airport since December 2021. It flies to San Francisco and, in winter, to Denver. Service follows a seasonal schedule, with daily flights in summer and winter. The terminal opens around 8:00 a.m. and closes after the last flight, typically about 5 p.m. Overnight parking costs $6 per night.
