Memorial Field Airport sits on 840 acres about 3 miles southwest of downtown Hot Springs. The city dedicated it in 1946 as McLaughlin Field, after the then mayor, and renamed it Hot Springs Memorial Field on Memorial Day 1947 to honor Arkansans who died in World War II. Wartime construction replaced grass strips with paved runways and hangars, built to serve injured service members recovering at the Army and Navy Hospital.

The airport is a Part 139 certificated commercial airport, one of six in Arkansas. It has two asphalt runways: 5/23 at 6,595 feet and 13/31 at 4,098 feet. The control tower is no longer staffed, so the field operates as non-towered. About 112 aircraft are based here, housed in 95 hangars, and general aviation makes up most of the roughly 29,800 yearly operations.

Southern Airways Express flies nine-passenger Cessna Caravans to Dallas/Fort Worth and Memphis under the federal Essential Air Service program. The City of Hot Springs runs the airport as a self-supporting municipal operation and also operates the fixed base operation, which serves general aviation and military aircraft from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Many travelers drive to Clinton National Airport in Little Rock for a wider choice of flights.
