Julius Nyerere International Airport sits 12 kilometres southwest of central Dar es Salaam, Tanzania's largest city and commercial hub. Named after the country's founding president, the airport handles over 2.8 million passengers a year across three terminals and connects Tanzania to Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and Asia.

Terminal 3, which opened in August 2019, handles all international traffic and has capacity for 9 million passengers annually. It features self-check-in counters, e-passport gates, and 58 commercial outlets. Terminal 2 serves domestic and regional scheduled services. Terminal 1 is used for charter and private aviation.

The airport is a hub for Air Tanzania, the national carrier, and Precision Air. International carriers including Emirates, Ethiopian Airlines, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, Kenya Airways, Air France, and RwandAir operate regular services. Ground handling is provided by Swissport Tanzania.
