Blaise Diagne International Airport guide

Blaise Diagne International Airport, known locally as AIBD, opened for scheduled operations on 7 December 2017 near Diass in the Thiès Region, replacing the former Léopold Sédar Senghor International Airport in central Dakar, which had become too constrained for growth. It has a single 3,500-metre runway and one two-level passenger terminal, with arrivals and departures on separate levels.

The airport is run by LAS SA, the Limak-AIBD-Summa operating company, under a 25-year concession. Phase one was designed for 3 million passengers a year, and Phase two is planned to lift capacity to 10 million by 2035. The airport handled about 2.94 million passengers in 2025, close to its current design capacity.

Air Senegal and Transair are based at AIBD. Air France, Delta Air Lines, Emirates, Ethiopian Airlines and Turkish Airlines are among the carriers flying to Dakar, with routes across Africa, Europe, the Middle East and North America. The Train Express Regional Dakar-AIBD connects the airport to Dakar, with the airport station opened on 28 September 2026.
