Nyala Airport guide

Nyala Airport (ICAO: HSNN) serves Nyala, the capital of South Darfur state in western Sudan. It sits at an elevation of 638 metres, east of the city.

The airport has one asphalt runway, 04/22, which measures about 3,011 metres. It is listed as both public and military. The Sudanese Air Force hosts helicopter squadrons flying Mil Mi-8, Mi-24 and Mi-35 aircraft, and a transport squadron with Antonov An-32s. The UN-African Union peacekeeping force UNAMID used a separate terminal on the site.

Before the civil war, Badr Airlines, Nova Airways and Sudan Airways listed services to Khartoum, and Nova Airways also listed El Fasher. All of those routes are marked as suspended. The Rapid Support Forces controlled the airport in 2023. Sudanese Armed Forces airstrikes in September 2024 reportedly damaged the runway, control tower and offices, and a cargo aircraft was destroyed here in May 2025. Published sources give no passenger or movement statistics. Travellers should check the security situation and confirm any flight before they travel.
