Hyderabad Airport guide

Hyderabad Airport (ICAO: OPKD) is a public airport in Hyderabad, the second-largest city in Sindh province, Pakistan. It sits at an elevation of 41 m (135 ft) on the southern side of the city, close to the Sindh Regimental Centre and the HDA Kohsar Housing Society. The Pakistan Airports Authority operates it.

The airport has one asphalt runway, 02/20, which is 2,133 m (6,998 ft) long. Commercial traffic stopped in 1998. Pakistan International Airlines reopened the airport on 19 August 2008, announcing twice-weekly flights to Islamabad and Lahore via Nawabshah. Commercial service ended again in 2013 because of financial losses and other reasons, and no scheduled passenger flights have operated since.

In October 2026 the Pakistan Airports Authority said it plans to revive the airport for commercial flights. The proposal would lengthen the runway from about 7,000 ft to about 11,500 ft, enough for aircraft such as the Boeing 777, and upgrade passenger facilities. The airport could also act as an alternate landing site for flights bound for Karachi, Sukkur and Nawabshah when weather or emergencies close those airports. No formal announcement has been issued.
