Jinnah International Airport guide

Jinnah International Airport is Karachi's air gateway and one of Pakistan's primary international hubs, serving Sindh's capital and the country's largest city. It traces its origins to 30 March 1929, when Imperial Airways began flights from the site, then known as Drigh Road Airport; a permanent terminal building followed on 5 December 1938. The Government of Pakistan owns the airport, and the Pakistan Airports Authority operates it.

The current Jinnah Terminal opened in August 1992 and handles both international and domestic flights through two satellite concourses, Jinnah East and Jinnah West. Pakistan International Airlines, the national carrier, operates alongside Emirates, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines and Etihad Airways on international routes, while Airblue, Fly Jinnah, AirSial and SereneAir cover the domestic network. A separate terminal, built in 1978, now handles seasonal Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage flights.

Two runways, 3,200 metres and 3,400 metres long, supported 6.7 million passengers and 45,322 aircraft movements in the year to June 2025, alongside more than 104,000 metric tons of cargo. The airport sits in eastern Karachi, reached from the city via Shahrah-e-Faisal, and its control tower stands atop the original 1938 terminal building, which now houses the Civil Aviation Authority's headquarters.
