Woodbourne Airport guide

Woodbourne Airport trades as Marlborough Airport and is the civil airport for Blenheim and the Marlborough wine region at the top of the South Island. It sits on the plains of Woodbourne, 8 km west of Blenheim, and shares its runways with RNZAF Base Woodbourne, the Air Force's support base.

The airport is run by Marlborough Airport Limited, a company wholly owned by Marlborough District Council through its holdings company. The company owns the terminal, hangar and car parks, while the runways and taxiways are on land occupied under a licence from the Crown. The main runway is a sealed 1,425 m strip, with a second 1,425 m grass runway and a shorter 1,182 m grass crosswind runway alongside.

All scheduled services are domestic. Air New Zealand flies to Auckland and Wellington, and Sounds Air serves Wellington, with charter operators also using the field. Passenger movements reached about 318,500 in 2023 after three years of Covid-19 disruption. The terminal building was extended in 2014 and 2015 to handle larger aircraft and higher passenger numbers.
