Jomsom Airport guide

Jomsom Airport serves the Mustang District of Gandaki Province, at the northern end of the Kali Gandaki Gorge. It sits beside the Kali Gandaki River at an elevation of 2,736 m (8,976 ft), in a valley between the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.

The airport has one asphalt runway, 06/24, measuring about 739 m by 20 m. It is a short take-off and landing field, flown by Twin Otter and similar turboprops. Visibility is often too poor for visual flight rules, and strong winds usually stop flying after midday, so flights run in the morning.

The scheduled route is the roughly 20-minute hop to Pokhara, operated by Tara Air, Summit Air and Sita Air. All scheduled services are domestic and use a single passenger terminal building. Trekkers on the Annapurna Circuit and pilgrims bound for Muktinath use it. Flights are often cancelled for weather, and passenger numbers vary with how passable the Beni to Jomsom road is.
