Zinder Airport guide

Zinder Airport serves Zinder, the second-largest city in Niger and the historic capital of the Damagaram region. It lies about 3 kilometres southwest of the city centre, at an elevation of 460 metres. The ICAO code is DRZR.

The airport has one asphalt runway, 05/23, which is 1,825 metres long. That length suits turboprops and light to mid-size jets. Despite the word "International" in some listings, the airport handles mainly domestic flights, and a foreign flight needs advance clearance. Cargo moves on an ad hoc basis. The government of Niger owns the airfield, and ASECNA has operated it since February 2020.

Traffic is small. The most recent published figure, for 2018, is about 30 flights and 2,500 passengers a year. Niger Airlines is the only marketed carrier, with Fokker 50 services linking Zinder to Niamey and Agadez. The Niamey link has been listed as suspended in some sources, so check the current timetable before you book. The UN Humanitarian Air Service has also flown scheduled rotations to Zinder.
