Lashio Airport guide

Lashio Airport (ICAO VYLS) serves Lashio, the largest town in northern Shan State, near the border with China. It sits at an elevation of 767 m (2,516 ft) on the northern edge of the town. Lashio lies about 200 km northeast of Mandalay and midway along the road between Mandalay and Muse, so the airport is the quickest link to the rest of Myanmar.

The airport has one bitumen runway, 01/19, measuring 1,611 m (5,285 ft). A logistics assessment lists 75-seat turboprops such as the ATR 72 as the largest aircraft it handles. The same assessment reports no refuelling or cargo handling equipment on site, and the Department of Civil Aviation is listed as the managing authority.

Published listings name Mingalar Aviation Services on routes to Heho and Yangon, while a logistics overview also lists Myanmar National Airlines, Air KBZ, Air Thanlwin, Mann Yadanarpon Airlines and Golden Myanmar Airlines. The airport is close to the former headquarters of the Northeast Military Command. The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army captured it on 30 July 2024. Services have been disrupted by conflict in northern Shan State, so check current flight status with the airline before travelling.
