Mananjary Airport guide

Mananjary Airport (ICAO FMSM) serves the town of Mananjary on Madagascar's east coast, in the Vatovavy region. It sits about 4 km from the town centre, close to the Indian Ocean and the Pangalanes canal system.

The airport has one asphalt runway, designated 04/22, 1,500 m (4,921 ft) long. Elevation is 6 m (20 ft). Landings are made visually. ADEMA (Aéroports de Madagascar) manages the field.

Scheduled airline service has stopped. Current traffic is mostly charter and humanitarian flying, and a logistics assessment lists operators such as MAF, Aéromarine and TOA, with roughly 90 flights recorded in 2021. A source notes the runway needs rehabilitation after a landing incident. Travellers who need a flight should check with ADEMA or a charter operator before planning around this airport. The road to Antananarivo, about 272 km away in a straight line, is the usual way in for most visitors.
