Rabat-Salé Airport Guide
Rabat-Salé Airport is located in Salé, about 8 kilometres northeast of Rabat, Morocco's capital. It is a joint-use facility shared with the Royal Moroccan Air Force's First Air Base. The single passenger terminal (Terminal 1) opened in January 2012 with a capacity of 3.5 million passengers per year. The airport recorded 1.2 million passengers in 2023, rising to approximately 1.7 million in 2024.
The airport serves primarily European leisure and low-cost routes. Royal Air Maroc is the dominant carrier, alongside Ryanair, easyJet, Air Arabia Maroc, Air France, Transavia France, and TUI fly Belgium. In 2024, Air Arabia opened a new base at Rabat-Salé, adding further European routes from the airport.
A runway expansion and new terminal project is underway, with capacity expected to increase to 4 million passengers ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup co-hosted by Morocco. The airport is managed by ONDA (Office National des Aéroports), the national authority responsible for Morocco's airports and air navigation services.
