Sabzevar National Airport guide

Sabzevar National Airport (IATA: AFZ, ICAO: OIMS) serves the city of Sabzevar in Razavi Khorasan province, north-eastern Iran. It sits at an elevation of about 920 metres. The Iran Airports Company operates it on behalf of the Government of Iran.

The airport has a single asphalt runway, designated 09/27, which measures 3,178 metres (10,428 feet). That length is well beyond what the turboprop services it handles need, and it can take larger aircraft. The airport opened in 2003, and Sabzevar is the only airport in Razavi Khorasan other than Mashhad that handles scheduled passenger traffic.

Scheduled flying centres on the Tehran route. Iran Air started Tehran to Sabzevar flights with ATR 72 aircraft in 2019, which raised the airport to ten weekly round trips. ATA Airlines and Yazd Airways have also flown between Sabzevar and Tehran Mehrabad. Mashhad, the provincial capital, lies roughly 220 km east of Sabzevar, so the airport gives western Razavi Khorasan a direct link to the capital without a long road transfer.
