Shravasti Airport guide

Shravasti Airport is a small domestic airport in the Shravasti district of Uttar Pradesh, close to the Nepal border. It serves Shravasti, Balrampur and Bahraich and sits on 57 acres of land owned by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The Airports Authority of India runs it. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase on 10 March 2024.

The airport has one asphalt runway, 12/30, which is 1,530 metres long. The site has a terminal building, an air traffic control tower, a fire station and an apron with room for two 19-seat Dornier 228 aircraft. Elevation is 112 metres above sea level.

Scheduled service falls under the UDAN regional connectivity scheme, with flights to Lucknow. Flights to New Delhi, Varanasi, Prayagraj and Kanpur are planned. Traffic has been very low: monthly passengers ranged from 14 to 114 in the second half of 2024, and none were recorded between April 2025 and March 2026. Balrampur, the nearest town, is about 23 km away. The airport is a gateway for Buddhist pilgrims visiting the ancient city of Shravasti.
