Hindon Airport / Hindon Air Force Station Guide
Hindon Airport is a civil enclave inside Hindan Air Force Station in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, on the eastern edge of the Delhi region. The Indian Air Force owns the airfield and the Airports Authority of India runs the civil terminal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the terminal on 8 March 2019, and the first scheduled flight, a UDAN service to Pithoragarh, left on 11 October 2019.
The airport has one asphalt runway, 09/27, which is 2,743 metres long. The air-conditioned terminal covers 5,425 square metres and has eight check-in counters and two baggage conveyor belts. It is rated for 300 passengers an hour, and the car park holds about 90 cars. Air traffic control is provided by the Indian Air Force, which does not allow night landings.
IndiGo flies from Hindon to Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Navi Mumbai and Varanasi, and Star Air serves Adampur, Kishangarh and Nanded. Connaught Place in central Delhi is about 20 km away. The Uttar Pradesh government and the Airports Authority of India are acquiring land near Sikandarpur village to extend the terminal and add aircraft parking bays.
