Lilabari North Lakhimpur Airport guide

Lilabari Airport, also called North Lakhimpur Airport, sits in Lakhimpur district in northeastern Assam, about 8 km north of North Lakhimpur. Airports Authority of India operates it, and its ICAO code is VELR. The airfield stands at 100 m above sea level.

The airport has one runway, 04/22, which is 2,286 m long with a concrete and asphalt surface. It has a night landing facility, and work is under way to modify the runway for larger aircraft. The terminal was inaugurated in 2003 after lobbying by local MP Ranee Narah. The airfield also served as a forward operating base for the Indian Air Force, including during the 1962 Sino-Indian War.

Alliance Air flies from Lilabari to Guwahati, Kolkata, Shillong and Tezpur. Between April 2025 and March 2026 the airport handled 13,436 passengers and 377 aircraft movements, a fall of 55.4 percent in passengers on the previous year.
