Muko Muko Airport guide

Mukomuko Airport serves Mukomuko Regency, the northern tip of Bengkulu Province on the west coast of Sumatra. It sits in Mukomuko Utara, about 5 km southeast of Mukomuko town. The ICAO code is WIPU and the field lies at 8 m above sea level.

The strip was built in 1970 for military use and was first named Putri Daeng Maleini Airport. The first flight landed in 1976, a CASA C-212 carrying 16 passengers. In the 1980s Indonesian Air Force C-130 Hercules aircraft flew transmigrants in through the field. It then sat inactive for several years, and renovations ran from 2004 to 2013. Commercial service resumed in 2010 with Susi Air Cessna 208 Caravan flights, and the first ATR-72 landed in 2016 when Wings Air opened a Mukomuko to Bengkulu route.

The single asphalt runway, 14/32, measures 1,400 m by 30 m. The apron covers 60 m by 40 m. Susi Air connects Mukomuko with Bengkulu and Padang. Plans call for relocating a nearby national road, enlarging the apron and building a larger terminal.
