I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport sits on the narrow Tuban isthmus in Badung Regency, wedged between the Bali Strait and Jimbaran Bay. It is Bali's only airport handling scheduled commercial flights and Indonesia's second-busiest airport by passenger volume. The site opened as a small airfield in 1931 and began international commercial service in 1966; today it operates a single runway 3,000 metres long.

The airport is named after I Gusti Ngurah Rai, a Balinese resistance leader killed at the Battle of Margarana in November 1946. InJourney Airports, the state operator formed from the merger of Indonesia's two airport authorities, manages the facility on behalf of the Indonesian government, which retains ownership.

Garuda Indonesia and Batik Air use Ngurah Rai as a hub, and the airport handles wide-body aircraft including the Airbus A380 on some international services. In 2024 the airport recorded 23.9 million passengers and 142,172 aircraft movements, both increases on the prior year, driven mainly by international demand from Australia, Singapore and Malaysia.
