Cayenne – Félix Éboué Airport is French Guiana's main air gateway, located in the commune of Matoury on the Atlantic coast. United States forces built the original airfield in 1943 as a wartime staging point for bombers crossing to Africa. France purchased it in 1949, and in 2012 it was renamed for Félix Éboué, a Guiana-born colonial administrator and French Resistance figure, replacing its earlier name, Rochambeau. In late 2025 a private concession led by Egis, the Société Concessionnaire de l'Aéroport de Cayenne, took over operations from the local chamber of commerce under a 30-year contract.

Air France flies the airport's busiest route, a direct link to Paris-Charles de Gaulle that carries most of its international traffic, while Air Caraïbes serves Paris-Orly. Guyane Express Fly, the successor to the liquidated Air Guyane Express, connects Cayenne to interior settlements such as Maripasoula and Saül that have no road access. Traffic is closing in on the terminal's theoretical capacity of 600,000 passengers a year, prompting an 85 million euro modernization program covering terminal, apron, and border-control upgrades.

The single runway sits amid dense Amazonian rainforest, a setting that makes the airport a lifeline for communities otherwise reachable only by river or light aircraft.
