Glasgow Airport sits in Paisley, Renfrewshire, 13 km west of Glasgow city centre, with direct access from the M8 motorway. It is the second-busiest airport in Scotland and ninth-busiest in the United Kingdom. The site has aviation history dating to 1932 as an RAF airfield; commercial operations began on 2 May 1966 when it replaced Renfrew Airport, and Queen Elizabeth II officially opened it on 27 June 1966.
The airport handled 8.1 million passengers in 2024, a 9.6% increase on the prior year. easyJet is the largest carrier by seat capacity, with six based aircraft. British Airways operates its Scottish hub here, running shuttle services to London Heathrow, Gatwick, and London City. Other significant carriers include Ryanair, Jet2.com, KLM, Loganair, and Emirates. The airport serves over 100 destinations across Europe, North America, and the Middle East.
Owner AGS Airports (held by AviAlliance) announced a £350 million investment programme in March 2025. Renewal of the three boarding piers, unchanged for 30 years, is scheduled to run from 2025 to 2027.
