Edinburgh Airport sits 9 km west of the city centre, in the Ingliston area beside the M8 and M9 motorways. It is the busiest airport in Scotland, handling 15.8 million passengers in 2024 — the first Scottish airport to exceed 15 million in a single year. The airport operates from a single terminal and a single runway.

The airport is majority-owned by Vinci Airports (50.01%), with Global Infrastructure Partners holding the remaining stake. Over 37 airlines operate services to more than 150 destinations, with easyJet and Ryanair the two largest carriers by volume. British Airways, Loganair, Jet2, Emirates, and several North American airlines also serve Edinburgh.

The tram line opened in 2014 links the airport directly to Edinburgh city centre and Newhaven, running roughly every 7-10 minutes. The M8 connects the airport to Glasgow in around 50 minutes by road.
