Metz-Nancy-Lorraine Airport sits on about 230 hectares in the Moselle department, on the territory of Goin and four neighbouring communes. It lies beside the A31 motorway, roughly midway between the two cities in its name, and opened to scheduled traffic on 28 October 1991. It replaced the older Metz-Frescaty and Nancy-Essey airfields.

The airport has a single paved runway, 04/22, which is 3,050 m long. That length suits long-haul aircraft, though the scheduled network is small. Air Algérie operates most of the flights, with services to Algiers, Oran and Constantine. Seasonal leisure flights, such as Aegean Airlines to Heraklion, add to the summer timetable.

Traffic reached about 279,000 passengers in 2018 and about 264,000 in 2019. It fell to about 38,500 in 2020 and recovered to about 105,000 in 2024. The Grand Est region owns the site and has run it through a public industrial and commercial establishment since May 2012, when the council rejected the only bid received in a 2011 concession tender. A separate cargo terminal handles freight alongside the passenger building.
